WBN launch in Trafalgar Square
Jenny and I had the excitement of attending the grand launch of this ambitious project last night (Friday) in Trafalgar Square, where a line-up of famous authors (including Edna O’Brien, John
le Carré, Philip Pullman, Sarah Waters, Alan Bennet, Margaret Atwood and many more), media and political personalties (including
Boris Johnson) were hosted by Graham Norton. They all read either from their own books, or excerpts from their favourite books. It was an astonishing evening, shared with about 10,000 members of the public (including about 5000 givers like myself) and we finished off by giving and exchanging books with each other at random. It was a veritable “Book Fest”!
