With no apologies to John Keats

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,

   Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;

Conspiring with him how to load and bless

   With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,

   And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;

      To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells

   With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,

Until they think warm days will never cease,

      For summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.

(From To Autumn by John Keats)

  1. Thanks for reminding me, fellow foster-child of silence and slow time.

  2. How I love the fall and this really touches the heart.

  3. These are beautiful fall pictures. And beautiful words to accompany them!

  4. Some beautiful shots there, Frank …

  5. All very well Frank, but what about those wet leaves when you’re cornering?!

  6. Patti Wade Zint

    This is beautiful! Wow…green with envy! And thank you for the like on Shelves.

  7. Where I come from, we never had this beautiful season 😦 Great stuff. Thanks for the like on The northern expedition.

  8. Beautiful pictures. I don’t get scenes like that on my rides through London. Thanks for the like on my blog.

    • ….ah, but London does have other charms. I love to don my urban guerilla lycra, take the bike down to the capital, and enter the “arena of conflict” around the roads of central London. The adrenalin rush is amazing…..!

  9. Beautiful poetry and gorgeous pics! Thanks for the like and checking out my blog!

  10. Beautiful! Looks like a great place to ride.
